Ordering from outside India: duty, timing and what to expect
The parts of an international order that surprise people, set out before you pay rather than after.

Most of what we send goes abroad. Here is what actually happens after you press pay.
Shipping cost
Calculated at checkout, before you pay, from your real address. There is nothing added afterwards.
Import duty is separate, and it is not ours
This is the one that catches people. Whatever your own country charges in import duty, VAT or a courier's handling fee is payable by you, usually to the courier before they will deliver.
We cannot tell you the amount. It depends on your country, the value of the order and sometimes the mood of the desk it lands on. Your local customs office can tell you the rate; nobody can tell you the exact figure in advance.
What we can promise is that we declare the real value. An undervalued parcel is a seized parcel, and it is your order that gets held.
Timing
In-stock pieces leave us in a couple of working days. After that it is the courier and then customs. Customs is the unpredictable part — usually a day or two, occasionally a week, and nothing we do at our end changes it.
If you need it by a date
Tell us before you order. For anything with a deadline — a wedding, Eid — write to us first and we will tell you honestly whether it will make it.
Returning something from abroad
It can be done and the postage is yours unless the piece was faulty or wrong. Write to us first so we can confirm the address and mark it correctly, or it gets charged duty coming back in.
